- sa vai ruroda devānāṁ
- pūrvajo bhagavān bhavaḥ
- nāmāni kuru me dhātaḥ
- sthānāni ca jagad-guro
saḥhe — he; vaicertainly — certainly; rurodacried loudly — cried loudly; devānāmthe eldest of all demigods pūrvajaḥthe eldest of all demigods — the eldest of all demigods; bhagavānthe most powerful — the most powerful; bhavaḥLord Śiva — Lord Śiva; nāmānidifferent names — different names; kurudesignate — designate; memy — my; dhātaḥO destiny maker — O destiny maker; sthānāniplaces — places; caalso — also; jagatO teacher of the universe-guroO teacher of the universe — O teacher of the universe.
After his birth he began to cry: O destiny maker, teacher of the universe, kindly designate my name and place.
