- na pibanti stanaṁ vatsā
- na duhyanti ca mātaraḥ
- rudanty aśru-mukhā gāvo
- na hṛṣyanty ṛṣabhā vraje
nadoes not — does not; pibantisuck — suck; stanambreast — breast; vatsāḥthe calves — the calves; nado not — do not; duhyantiallow milking — allow milking; caalso — also; mātaraḥthe cows — the cows; rudanticrying — crying; aśruwith a tearful face-mukhāḥwith a tearful face — with a tearful face; gāvaḥthe cows — the cows; nado not — do not; hṛṣyantitake pleasure — take pleasure; ṛṣabhāḥthe bulls — the bulls; vrajein the pasturing ground — in the pasturing ground.
The calves do not suck the teats of the cows, nor do the cows give milk. They are standing, crying, tears in their eyes, and the bulls take no pleasure in the pasturing grounds.
