- यत्तु कामेप्सुना कर्म साहंकारेण वा पुनः ।
- क्रियते बहुलायासं तद्राजसमुदाहृतम् ॥२४॥
- yat tu kāmepsunā karma
- sāhaṅkāreṇa vā punaḥ
- kriyate bahulāyāsaṁ
- tad rājasam udāhṛtam
yatthat which — that which; tubut — but; kāmaby one with desires for fruitive results-īpsunāby one with desires for fruitive results — by one with desires for fruitive results; karmawork — work; sawith ego-ahaṅkāreṇawith ego — with ego; vāor — or; punaḥagain — again; kriyateis performed — is performed; bahulawith great labor-āyāsamwith great labor — with great labor; tatthat — that; rājasamin the mode of passion — in the mode of passion; udāhṛtamis said to be — is said to be.
But action performed with great effort by one seeking to gratify his desires, and enacted from a sense of false ego, is called action in the mode of passion.
