patitaḥfallen — fallen; bhuvion the earth — on the earth; asṛkwith blood — with blood; miśraḥsmeared — smeared; viṣṭhāa worm-bhūḥa worm — a worm; ivalike — like; ceṣṭatehe moves his limbs — he moves his limbs; rorūyaticries loudly — cries loudly; gatebeing lost — being lost; jñānehis wisdom — his wisdom; viparītāmthe opposite — the opposite; gatimstate — state; gataḥgone to — gone to.
The child thus falls on the ground, smeared with stool and blood, and plays just like a worm germinated from the stool. He loses his superior knowledge and cries under the spell of māyā.
