- kṛta-śokānutāpena
- sadyaḥ pratyavamarśanāt
- bhagavaty uru-mānāc ca
- bhave mayy api cādarāt
- putrasyaiva ca putrāṇāṁ
- bhavitaikaḥ satāṁ mataḥ
- gāsyanti yad-yaśaḥ śuddhaṁ
- bhagavad-yaśasā samam
kaśyapaḥthe learned Kaśyapa said uvācathe learned Kaśyapa said — the learned Kaśyapa said; kṛtahaving lamented-śokahaving lamented — having lamented; anutāpenaby penitence — by penitence; sadyaḥimmediately — immediately; pratyavamarśanātby proper deliberation — by proper deliberation; bhagavatiunto the Supreme Personality of Godhead — unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead; urugreat — great; mānātadoration — adoration; caand — and; bhaveunto Lord Śiva — unto Lord Śiva; mayiunto me also apiunto me also — unto me also; caand — and; ādarātby respect — by respect; putrasyaof the son — of the son; evacertainly — certainly; caand — and; putrāṇāmof the sons — of the sons; bhavitāshall be born — shall be born; ekaḥone — one; satāmof the devotees — of the devotees; mataḥapproved — approved; gāsyantiwill broadcast — will broadcast; yatof whom — of whom; yaśaḥrecognition — recognition; śuddhamtranscendental — transcendental; bhagavatof the Personality of Godhead — of the Personality of Godhead; yaśasāwith recognition — with recognition; samamequally — equally.
The learned Kaśyapa said: Because of your lamentation, penitence and proper deliberation, and also because of your unflinching faith in the Supreme Personality of Godhead and your adoration for Lord Śiva and me, one of the sons [Prahlāda] of your son [Hiraṇyakaśipu] will be an approved devotee of the Lord, and his fame will be broadcast equally with that of the Personality of Godhead.
