- tad dharmajña mahā-bhāga
- bhavadbhir gauravaṁ kulam
- vṛjinaṁ nārhati prāptuṁ
- pūjyaṁ vandyam abhīkṣṇaśaḥ
tattherefore — therefore; dharmaone who is aware of the principles of religion-jñaone who is aware of the principles of religion — one who is aware of the principles of religion; mahāthe most fortunate-bhāgathe most fortunate — the most fortunate; bhavadbhiḥby your good self — by your good self; gauravamglorified — glorified; kulamthe family — the family; vṛjinamthat which is painful — that which is painful; nanot — not; arhatidoes deserve — does deserve; prāptumfor obtaining — for obtaining; pūjyamthe worshipable — the worshipable; vandyamrespectable — respectable; abhīkṣṇaśaḥconstantly — constantly.
O most fortunate one who knows the principles of religion, it is not good for you to cause grief to glorious family members who are always respectable and worshipful.
A slight insult for a respectable family is sufficient to invoke grief. Therefore, a cultured man should always be careful in dealing with worshipful family members.
