- ब्राह्मणक्षत्रियविशां शूद्राणां च परन्तप ।
- कर्माणि प्रविभक्तानि स्वभावप्रभवैर्गुणैः ॥४१॥
- brāhmaṇa-kṣatriya-viśāṁ
- śūdrāṇāṁ ca parantapa
- karmāṇi pravibhaktāni
- svabhāva-prabhavair guṇaiḥ
brāhmaṇaof the brāhmaṇas — of the brāhmaṇas; kṣatriyathe kṣatriyas — the kṣatriyas; viśāmand the vaiśyas — and the vaiśyas; śūdrāṇāmof the śūdras — of the śūdras; caand — and; parantapaO subduer of the enemies — O subduer of the enemies; karmāṇithe activities — the activities; pravibhaktāniare divided — are divided; svabhāvatheir own nature — their own nature; prabhavaiḥborn of — born of; guṇaiḥby the modes of material nature — by the modes of material nature.
Brāhmaṇas, kṣatriyas, vaiśyas and śūdras are distinguished by the qualities born of their own natures in accordance with the material modes, O chastiser of the enemy.
