- Acaryopasanam. In the Bhagavad-gita: "One should worship acarya." This is the beginning of spiritual life

- According to this verse (SB 4.8.78) and other Vedic literatures, such as Bhagavad-gita, the resting place of Brahman is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, just as the resting place of the sunshine is the sun globe
- After the Battle of Kuruksetra, at which Bhagavad-gita was spoken, Kali-yuga continues for 432,000 years, of which only 5,000 years have passed. Thus there is still a balance of 427,000 years to come
- After the destruction of this body, you accept another body, tatha dehantara praptir. These are the versions in the BG, authoritative. And dehantara means another body. There is no guarantee what kind of body you will get. That will depend on your work
- All of these sutras (like Bhagavad-gita (BG 10.8), Taittiriya Upanisad (3.1.1), Mundaka Upanisad (1.1.7)) indicate the transformation of the Lord’s energy
- All over the world. It is called spiritual bankruptcy all over the world and leading men are thinking this catastrophe, and the only hope is Bhagavad-gita
- All the stanzas of Bhagavad-gita, they're strictly according to the nyaya-prasthana and sruti-prasthana. So any book which is strictly written according to the Vedas and Vedantas, that is also accepted as Vedic literature
- All these so-called rascal scholars of Bhagavad-gita, their only business is how to kill Krsna - Kamsa, as Kamsa was planning how to kill Krsna. That was his plan, demon. He was also thinking of Krsna, but he was thinking Krsna, how to kill Him
- Although all these great scriptures (BG and SB) are on the same absolute level, for the sake of comparative study the Caitanya-caritamrta is considered to be on the highest platform. Every verse in it is perfectly composed - CC Intro
- Although Bhagavad-gita is considered the preliminary study of the science of God, still it is so perfect that one can distinguish what is what. BG 1972 purports
- Although he was lecturing on Bhagavad-gita, and people knew that Gandhi's life and soul is Bhagavad-gita, but the result is that he does not understand Krsna. Just see

- An American lady asked me (Prabhupada) to recommend an English translation of BG. in America there are so many editions of BG available in English, but as far as I have seen, none of them can be strictly said to be authoritative. BG 1972 Introduction

- Any scripture of any country, not only of this BG, but any scripture, they are aiming simply how to get us back to Godhead. That is the purpose. take for example any of the great religious reformer or acaryas of any country, like, Jesus or Buddha
- Anyone who has taken birth in India, Bharatavarsa, because he has got the facilities, the Vedas - the Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam, Vedanta-sutra - all these things are cultivated in India. So they have got the facilities
- Anyone, beginning from Brahmaji down to the human being, is at once put on the path of liberation simply by his attachment in great earnestness for the Supreme Lord, Sri Krsna, the primeval Lord. The Lord affirms this in the Bhagavad-gita
- Apart from Bhagavad-gita, in every society a man is known according to his quality and work. For example, when a man is constructing wooden furniture, he is called a carpenter, and a man who works with an anvil and iron is called a blacksmith
- Arjuna wanted to become nonviolent the whole BG was taught to him, how to become violent, and this rascal said that in the BG there is nonviolence. It is not false? So a man preaching falsehood, is he a gentleman? Or he is a right man?
- As a diseased man has his symptoms, by which he is known as diseased, so a man in transcendental consciousness of Krsna has specific symptoms in various dealings. One can know his specific symptoms from the Bhagavad-gita. BG 1972 purports
- As a matter of philosophy and book of knowledge, it is (Bhagavad-gita) very popular all over the world
- As indicated in Bhagavad-gita (BG 3.27) by the words prakrteh kriyamanani, according to the laws of nature one is controlled by the demigods
- As indicated in Bhagavad-gita (BG 8.16), one does not escape material miseries even if he is elevated to Brahmaloka. Similarly, one is not very safe even if he is promoted to Sivaloka, because the planet of Sivaloka is marginal
- As Krsna says in Bhagavad-gita (BG 7.10), bijam mam sarva-bhutanam: "I am the original seed of all existences." Therefore all arrangements are there
- As soon as I take this Bhagavad-gita in my hand I see the picture that Arjuna is asking Krsna to place his chariot in the warfield, and Krsna is driving the chariot by his order. So this is creating some feeling in me
- As stated by Krsna Himself throughout Bhagavad-gita, there is no truth superior to Him
- As stated by the Lord Himself in Bhagavad-gita (BG 10.10) To those who are constantly devoted and worship Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me

- Asuram bhavam (in BG 7.15) refers to not accepting the existence of God or the transcendental instructions of the Personality of Godhead. Bhagavad-gita clearly consists of transcendental instructions imparted directly by the Supreme Personality of God

- Avajananti mam mudha manusim tanum asritam (BG 9.11): He is always bewildering to the nondevotees, but He is always seen by the devotees by dint of their pure devotional service to Him
B
- Because Bhagavad-gita is such nice book, if you can understand one line, you advance hundred years
- Because He (Krsna) is transcendental, outside the jurisdiction of this material world. Therefore, Krsna can be understood only by those who are already living in the spiritual world. This is corroborated in the Bhagavad-gita - BG 14.26
- Because Lord Sri Krsna is the original person from whom everything and everyone has emanated - aham sarvasya prabhavah (BG 10.8), janmady asya yatah (SB 1.1.1) (Vedanta-sutra 1.1.2) - nothing can be equal to or greater than Him
- Because such politicians, philosophers and scholars are interested in using Bhagavad-gita as a vehicle for adjusting things materially, for them constant thought of Krsna, or Krsna consciousness, is impossible
- Because the living being takes the superior position for explosion of matter or reaction of matter, therefore in the Bhagavad-gita it is admitted that the matter is handled by the living being; it is inferior energy
- Because there is no such thing (a remedy to death) in the material world, death is identical with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, as it is said by the Lord Himself in the Bhagavad-gita
- Because we are under illusion, Devahuti says: sva-bhrtya-samsara-taroh kutharam. In Bhagavad-gita (15.1-4), material existence is likened unto a banyan tree with its roots upward and its branches below
- Before me, many swamis went to the Western countries. They also talked about Bhagavad-gita and other Vedic literature. But not a single person could be converted to Krsna consciousness, not a single person throughout the whole history
- Before my (Prabhupada) presentation of Bhagavad-gita As It Is, almost all the English editions of Bhagavad-gita were introduced to fulfill someone's personal ambition. BG 1972 Preface
- BG should be taken up in a spirit of devotion. One should not think that he is equal to Krsna, nor should he think that Krsna is an ordinary personality or even a very great personality. Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. BG 1972 Introduction
- Bhagavad-gita (18.45). Sve sve karmany abhiratah samsiddhim labhate narah: "By executing one's prescribed duties, one can attain the highest perfection."
- Bhagavad-gita (4.23): "The work of a man who is unattached to the modes of material nature and who is fully situated in transcendental knowledge merges entirely into transcendence"
- Bhagavad-gita (5.17) further elucidates that when a learned man attains to absolute vision, he can observe every living being - whether a learned and gentle brahmana, a cow, an elephant, a dog, or a dog-eater - with equanimity
- Bhagavad-gita (7.27): "O scion of Bharata (Arjuna), O conqueror of the foe, all living entities are born into delusion, overcome by the dualities of desire and hate." This condition of life is called avidya. Opposed to this avidya is real knowledge
- Bhagavad-gita (BG 10.42): "With a single fragment of Myself I (Krsna) pervade and support this entire universe." The entire material world manifests only one fourth of the Supreme Lord's energy. Therefore He is called ananta
- Bhagavad-gita (BG 15.15): "I (Krsna) am seated in everyone's heart, and from Me come remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness." The Lord is present in everyone's heart, and He gives the living entity intelligence
- Bhagavad-gita (BG 18.61): "The Supreme Lord is situated in everyone's heart, O Arjuna, and is directing the wanderings of all living entities, who are seated as on a machine, made of the material energy"
- Bhagavad-gita (BG 6.41), "One who falls from the path of self-realization takes birth in a family of brahmanas or wealthy aristocrats." Although Maharaja Bharata appeared in the royal family, he became neglectful and took birth as a deer
- Bhagavad-gita (BG 9.10): mayadhyaksena prakrtih suyate sa-caracaram. "This material nature is working under My (Krsna's) direction, O son of Kunti, and it is producing all moving and unmoving living beings"
- Bhagavad-gita and similar Vedic literatures are presented so that the living being may understand his relationship with Krsna. Vedais ca sarvair aham eva vedyah - BG 15.15
- Bhagavad-gita contains the complete knowledge of Vedic wisdom. BG 1972 Introduction
- Bhagavad-gita existed in the human society from the time of Maharaja Iksvaku - Mahabharata (Santi-parva 348.51-52). BG 1972 purports
- Bhagavad-gita has been so important book throughout the whole world that there is a sect in Germany who are called Indo-German religious sect
- Bhagavad-gita indicates that this material body is not all in all. Beyond this combination of material elements, there is spirit, and the symptom of that spirit is consciousness
- Bhagavad-gita is a very popular book, and there are many editions of it in America and also many from India
- Bhagavad-gita is also known as Gitopanisad. It is the essence of Vedic knowledge and one of the most important Upanisads in Vedic literature. BG 1972 Introduction
- Bhagavad-gita is divided into three primary divisions-karma-yoga, jnana-yoga and bhakti-yoga. The word yoga means "acting on behalf of the Supreme Personality of Godhead."
- Bhagavad-gita is not meant for any particular party or nation but for everyone all over the world - even for the animals
- Bhagavad-gita is popular in your country, at least amongst the scholars and theosophists and theologists, going on, for the last two hundred years at least. But nobody understood Krsna
- Bhagavad-gita is the preliminary study of Srimad-Bhagavatam, and therefore it ends with the words sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja: Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me - BG 18.66
- Bhagavad-gita is the sublime cultural knowledge, and of course religion is included there, but it is not fanaticism or sentimental religion. It is based on pure science, philosophy, and logic
- Bhagavad-gita makes it clear that one can attain the highest perfection of spiritual life simply by offering service according to his ability, just as Arjuna served Krsna by his ability in the military art
- Bhagavad-gita points out that you may feel very happy with your so-called material senses, but you should see to the real problem of life, janma-mrtyu-jara-vyadhi: birth, death, old age and disease
- Bhagavad-gita points out that you should always keep these four principles (birth, death, old age and disease) of misery in front. Then you'll be able to advance in spiritual path
- Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam, it is not meant for Indians only. That is not the idea. But nowadays everything is seen through national consciousness. But in the BG you will not find anything as so-called nationalism or communism. That is spiritualism
- Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam, or Vedic literature, or any scripture. For whom they are meant? Those who are godly, for their elevation, so that they can elevate more and more. It is not for the atheistic persons
- Bible is not different from Bhagavad-gita, but when one is perfectly conversant with Bible, he'll understand more nicely Bhagavad-gita. It is not contradictory. It is helpful
- Bible or Bhagavad-gita or Srimad-Bhagavata, they are not meant for the atheistic persons. So whatever auspicious things are in the world, they are meant for the faithful, not for the atheistic persons
- Brahmana means as it is, they will describe. That is brahmana. And if one has got some motive, that "Bhagavad-gita is popular book. Let me utilize it and make my rascal philosophy popular . . ." That is wrong. That is sudra
- Brahmanas must be qualified by practicing cleanliness, truthfulness, control of the mind and the senses, simplicity, and by cultivating faith in the Vedas and particularly in Bhagavad-gita
- Bring all the books which are published in your country and find out a single man who is a Krsna's devotee. Nobody of them. Then what authority he has got to write on Bhagavad-gita? He has no right. It is simply poking your nose in other's business
- By ascending knowledge, one tries to elevate himself by his own effort, but by descending knowledge one receives the knowledge from a superior source. In the Vedic tradition, knowledge is imparted to the student from the spiritual master, as in BG
- By purusottama-yoga, as it is stated in the BG, one is made perfect even during the present corporeal existence, and one exhibits all the good qualities of the Lord to the highest percentage. Such is the gradual development by association of pure devotees
C
- Certainly Bhagavad-gita was never meant for the demonic persons, who would dissipate its value for no one's benefit and would devise all types of interpretations according to personal whims. BG 1972 purports
- Complete practice of yoga means bhakti-yoga; unless one comes to the point of bhakti-yoga, or surrender unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead, one's yoga practice is not complete. This same point is corroborated in the Srimad Bhagavad-gita
D
- Demigod worship is discouraged in BG: Men of small intelligence worship the demigods, & their fruits are limited and temporary. Those who worship the demigods go to the planets of the demigods, but My devotees ultimately reach My supreme planet - BG 7.23
- Demigods depend on the protection of Visnu; they are not independent. Bhagavad-gita, therefore, condemns the worship of demigods because there is no need of it and clearly states that only those who have lost their sense go asking favors of the demigods
- Don't neglect Bhagavad-gita or Bhagavata as ordinary books. You must be very careful. As you take care of the Deities, you should take care of the books also
E
- Elsewhere in Bhagavad-gita the Lord says, urdhvam gacchanti sattva-sthah: (BG 14.18) if one becomes a very good person - in other words, if one is in the mode of goodness - he may be elevated to the higher planetary systems
- Engagement of the senses and the mind as described above (SB 9.4.18.20) is the perfect process for transcendental achievement, which is called yukta in the Bhagavad-gita. BG 1972 purports
- Especially in this age, because people are interested in hearing Bhagavad-gita from unscrupulous persons who depart from the simple presentation of Bhagavad-gita and distort it for their personal satisfaction, they fail to derive the real benefit
- Especially Mahatma Gandhi, he was actually a great personality. There is no doubt about it. But so far Bhagavad-gita is concerned, he did not know anything
- Evam parampara-praptam imam rajarsayo viduh. This is the acarya. Acarya will never interpret things like that. You see Ramanujacarya's comments on Bhagavad-gita. Nothing changed. But in every sloka he has given evidence from the Vedas, from the Upanisads
- Evam parampara-praptam, rajarsayah. The Bhagavad-gita, it meant for the rajarsis. King, but they are saintly person. Therefore they are called rajarsi. Raja and rsi, both, combined together, rajarsi. So all the kings in those days, they were all rajarsis
- Even Sripada Sankaracarya recommends that a little knowledge in Bhagavad-gita and the drinking of a little quantity of Ganges water can save one from the punishment of Yamaraja
- Even the common man in the village would talk about Ramayana and Mahabharata, Gita and Bhagavatam, even from his very childhood
- Even though one may be situated within this material world, he can become fully satisfied and devoid of hankering and lamentation simply by following the instructions of the Lord as set forth in Bhagavad-gita or Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Every human being born in India, they should take up this cult of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. They can take it. Because by birth they have got the right because this Bhagavatam is produced in India, Bhagavad-gita is produced in India
- Every Indian should take Bhagavad-gita very seriously. Then India's fortune will change
- Every living being - even if he be a brahmana by qualification - must take to the transcendental service of the Lord. Both Bhagavad-gita and the Srimad-Bhagavatam support that this service attitude is the perfection of the living entity
- Every point is very clear. In the Bhagavad-gita, every point is very clear, unless you interpret it in the wrong way
- Everyone is engaged in humanitarian activities on the basis of the body, but from the BG 2.18 we understand, anta-vanta ime deha nityasyoktah saririnah: “The material body is ultimately subject to destruction, whereas the spiritual soul is eternal.”
- Everything should be learned from the standard Vedic literature, and society and other things, economic development, everything. So that is here in the Bhagavad-gita
F
- Foolish people, therefore, become devotees of demigods. This has been pointed out and criticized by Lord Krsna in Bhagavad-gita (BG 7.20): kamais tais tair hrta jnanah prapadyante 'nya-devatah
- Fools deride Me (Krsna) when I descend in the human form. They do not know My transcendental nature and My supreme dominion over all that be - Bhagavad-gita - 9.11
- Forty years ago that black Bhagavata was bound only for two rupees. This is very nice one. Macmillan Company, BG hardbound, they charge ten dollar, ninety-five. And softbound, they charge four dollars. Six dollar difference on account of binding
- From Bhagavad-gita we have to accept that there is a spiritual universe which is the kingdom of God
- From Bhagavad-gita we understand the quality of the Lord's energy that is superior to the material quality of energy
- From the Bhagavad-gita it is understood that one does not die with the annihilation of his body. The annihilation of one body involves changing to another
- From the Bhagavad-gita, as well as from the Srimad-Bhagavatam, it is known that qualitatively the Lord and the living beings are one
- From the Gita we can clearly understand that the forms of the demigods and the form of the Supreme Lord are simultaneously existing and that Lord Krsna is sac-cid-ananda, eternal blissful knowledge. BG 1972 purports
- Further classification of the neophyte devotee is made in the Bhagavad-gita
G
- Gandhi, he wanted to prove, from Bhagavad-gita, nonviolence. The Bhagavad-gita is being preached in the battlefield, and it is completely violence. How he can prove? Therefore he is dragging the meaning out
- Ganges is said to be emanating from the lotus feet of the Lord. there is no difference between the mouth and the feet of the Supreme Lord, but in our position we can appreciate that the BG is even more important than the Ganges. BG 1972 Introduction
- Gita is the very nectar of the Mahabharata spoken by Visnu Himself, for Lord Krsna is the original Visnu. It is nectar emanating from the mouth of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. BG 1972 Introduction
- Godless civilization. Sinful activities. The reaction will increase - no rainfall, scarcity of food grains, and government taxes. These are written in Bhagavata. Anavrsti-durbhiksa kara-piditah
- Government recognition means we have to abide by the orders of government. We cannot teach Bhagavad-gita only or Bhagavata
- Great politicians and philosophers of the modern age even try to banish Krsna from Bhagavad-gita. Consequently, for them there is no salvation
H
- Hatha yoga received in the Bhagavad-gita is very difficult in this age. Yoga system is approved, but nobody can follow the rules and regulations strictly, neither there is suitable place for executing it
- He (Dr. Radhakrishnan) is known as a very big scholar, philosopher - he also does not understand Krsna. And Bhagavad-gita means Krsna. Krsna is speaking
- He (God) Himself also instructs in His speeches of Bhagavad-gita. This propaganda work goes on side by side with the creation to convince the misguided living entities who are rotting in this material world to come back to Him and surrender unto Him
- He (God) is accepted as the Supreme Personality of Godhead by learned scholars & saints like Vyasadeva, Narada, Asita and Devala in the past & by Arjuna in the BG as by the acaryas like Sankara, Ramanuja, Madhva and Lord Sri Caitanya in the modern age
- He (God) knows everything. In the Bhagavad-gita also He says that, "I know past, present, future everywhere." So consciousness is there. One is the supreme consciousness, and the other is this limited consciousness
- He (Vyasadeva) also compiled the Mahabharata, which is accepted as the fifth Veda. The Bhagavad-gita is contained within the Mahabharata. Therefore the Bhagavad-gita is also Vedic literature - smrti
- He will actually feel himself making progress (by chating Hare Krsna). In Bhagavad-gita this practice of Krsna consciousness is prescribed as raja-vidya, or the king of all erudition
- Here (SB 3.21.3) we are speaking of Svayambhuva Manu, but in Bhagavad-gita we hear about Vaivasvata Manu
- Here is Bhagavad-gita. Try to understand it, make your life successful, and then broadcast this message all over the world. That is paropakara. So actually, India and India's people, they are meant for paropakara. We are not meant for exploiting others
- How is it possible to prove nonviolence from Bhagavad-gita? The very theme of Bhagavad-gita involves Arjuna's reluctance to fight and Krsna's inducing him to kill his opponents
- How it (love for Krsna) is awakened? If you simply give your aural reception to the krsna-katha. Krsna-katha means what is spoken by Krsna, the Bhagavad-gita, and krsna-katha means speeches and words which are spoken about Krsna
- How they are worshiping Krsna. So Bhagavad-gita, main purpose is that. Krsna says, sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja (BG 18.66). So who has preached this? Nobody spoke that, Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. You worship Him
- Human being is so responsible. If he remains fool, then he loses the chance of life. Why these books are here? This SB, BG, Vedanta-Sutra, and so many nice books there are. Why? Just to make us advanced in knowledge
- Human life is meant for earning values. This life is called arthadam, or that which can deliver values. And what is the greatest value of life? It is returning home, back to Godhead, as indicated in the Bhagavad-gita
- Human society should follow the Vedic principles of life, which are summarized in Bhagavad-gita. Otherwise life in material existence will continue
I
- I always wanted that there should be a cinema made of Bhagavad-gita, now you are fulfilling my desire in that connection
- I am so glad to learn that you have delivered the manuscript of Bhagavad Gita to McMillan & Co. on the date of my Guru Maharaj's birthday ceremony
- I have already killed the great warriors - Bhisma, Drona, Jayadratha, Karna & many other great generals. Do not worry. Fight & be famous as a great hero." (BG 11.32-34) Krsna always wants to see His devotee as the hero of some episode which He performs
- I have received your note along with the folio of drawings for the proposed “Bhagavad-gita Coloring Book”. I can see from this work that you are a talented artist. However, I do not think we can publish this book
- I hope you will not take my offering in an inferior complex but accept it in a spirit of love for the Bhagavad-gita
- I note that for the new printing of the abridged Gita, Dia Nippon, there were mistakes. Why there should be mistakes? Mistakes makes the book useless. You must be very, very careful. It will be detrimental to the sales
- I shall request Nandaji that take the standard method as prescribed in the Bhagavad-gita. Then you will be successful. Not only Nandaji - anyone. The example is already there
- I think every home has got a Bhagavad-gita. But you do not study; you neglect it. That is your fault
- I want to give Indian culture to the whole world. I'm not going to cheat people, taking Bhagavad-gita and speaking all nonsense. I want to present Bhagavad-gita as it is. That is my mission
- I wrote a personal letter to Gandhi that "Mahatma Gandhi, you are recognized all over the world as a very pious man, and you are supposed to be very devotee of Bhagavad-gita
- I've (Prabhupada) written state letter to Dr. Radhakrishnan. "So if you want to, I mean to say, compensate the greatest sin you have committed in your Bhagavad-gita, then you join this Krsna conscious movement and rectify yourself."
- Ideally, one begins with the Bhagavad-gita and advances through Srimad-Bhagavatam to the Caitanya-caritamrta - CC Intro
- If body says, "I have brought lamp. You can see," this is nonsense. So Bhagavad-gita is so perfectly illuminated that anyone can understand without any very advanced knowledge, simple knowledge
- If one adheres to these two books - Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam - one is sure to obtain the association of Krsna in the next life - tyaktva deham punar janma naiti mam eti so 'rjuna - BG 4.9

- Kings or executive heads of all states must know the codes of Lord Krsna (generally Bhagavad-gita & Srimad-Bhagavatam) and must act accordingly in order to fulfill the mission of human life, which is to make an end to all miseries of material conditions
- Krsi-go-raksya-vanijyam vaisya-karma svabhavajam (BG 18.44). Those who belong to the third level of human society, namely the mercantile people, must keep land for producing food grains and giving protection to cows. This is the injunction of BG
- Krsna always protects the living entities in many ways. He comes Himself, sends His own confidential devotees, and leaves behind Him sastras. Why? It is so that people may take advantage of the benediction to be liberated from the clutches of maya
- Krsna exhibits His powers as isvara, or the supreme controller, when He assures His devotee in Bhagavad-gita (BG 18.66): "Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reaction. Do not fear."
- Krsna has maintained spiritual individuality all along; if He is accepted as an ordinary conditioned soul in individual consciousness, then His Bhagavad-gita has no value as authoritative scripture. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna is so kind that He gives His book, Bhagavad-gita, He sends His representative, He comes Himself as Lord Caitanya to deliver us; He sends Lord Jesus Christ. So, so many arrangement, but we don't take advantage. We are so fool and sinful
- Krsna is violent to demons, and to attempt to prove that Krsna is not violent is ultimately to deny Krsna. As such explanations of the Bhagavad-gita are absurd
- Krsna knows that unless Arjuna becomes affected family-wise, how Bhagavad-gita will be there? Therefore although Gudakesa, Arjuna, is above darkness, still, by the will of Krsna, Hrsikesa, he played just like ordinary man, affected with family affection
- Krsna says in BG 9.26: If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit or water, I will accept it
- Krsna says in Bhagavad-gita (BG 9.4), maya tatam idam sarvam jagad avyakta-murtina: "In My impersonal feature I pervade this entire universe." Thus the avyakta-murti, the impersonal feature, is certainly an expansion of Krsna's energy
- Krsna says in Bhagavad-gita, aham sarvasya prabhavah: (BG 10.8) "I am the source of birth of everything, including Brahma and Lord Siva and the living entities
- Krsna says in the Bhagavad-gita, "Beyond Me there is no more superior power." So Vyasadeva is offering his obeisances to the person above whom there is nobody
- Krsna says in the Bhagavad-gita, raso 'ham apsu kaunteya (BG 7.8): "I am the taste in the water." Now, this taste in the water is perpetual. When Krsna was physically present or Krsna is not physically present, this is a perpetual fact. Is it not?
- Krsna says, in Bhagavad-gita, First of all surrender, and then I will take charge of you and free you from all reactions of sinful activities
- Krsna says, mattah parataram nanyat (BG 7.7). Aham sarvasya prabhavo (BG 10.8). So if we have to believe Bhagavad-gita, then Krsna is the Supreme. That's all
- Krsna-katha, or topics regarding Krsna, are transcendental, and there is no satiation in hearing such topics. Bhagavad-gita is important on account of its being krsna-katha, or speeches delivered by Lord Krsna
L
- Like the pictures we have in the Bhagavatam and the Gita, then we can make them into doll displays, some of those pictures
- Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu is bhagavata-dharma, and He especially recommends krsna-katha, or the cult of Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Lord Krsna says in Bhagavad-gita that maya, His material energy, is so forceful that it is insurmountable
- Lord Krsna simply gave the Bhagavad-gita, by which one can understand Lord Krsna as He is, but Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, who is also Krsna Himself, gave people love of Krsna without discrimination
M
- Mahabharata is authorized Vedic literature, & within the Mahabharata this Bhagavad-gita is there. Therefore it is Vedic literature. Unless it is authorized perfect knowledge, why Vyasadeva should put in his Mahabharata? Therefore it is perfect knowledge
- Manu spoke the secret of BG to his son Iksvaku. So now that system is lost. Kalena mahata: by the great power. Kala means time. Time has got his influence, very great influence. Time's business is, whatever you make, time will try to kill it. That's all
- Many other sastras are there, but Bhagavad-gita is the beginning of spiritual life, A-B-C-D. So even if we do not learn the A-B-C-D of spiritual life, how our life will be successful in the mission?
- Material enjoyment on the gross bodily platform is discouraged throughout Bhagavad-gita: matra-sparsas tu kaunteya, sitosna-sukha-duhkha-dah, agamapayino 'nityas, tams titiksasva bharata - BG 2.14
- Material nature and purusa means the enjoyer. Six question. Of course, Bhagavad-gita is, each and every word and letter, is full of knowledge. But these six inquiries, if actually can understand the six items, he becomes the perfect knower
- Material nature is also controlled by the Lord, as He has claimed in Bhagavad-gita (BG 9.10). Mayadhyaksena prakrtih suyate sacaracaram: "Under My direction only is material nature working, and thus are all things moving
- Men with materialistic tendencies are more attracted to the politics, economics and philanthropic activities mentioned in the Mahabharata than to the principal topic, namely the Bhagavad-gita
- Mudha means rascal. It is said in the Gita, Only rascals think of Lord Krsna as an ordinary person. They do not know what Lord Krsna's position is or what His transcendental potencies are
- Mundane scholars can always discover novel meanings in Bhagavad-gita, and in this way they may certainly exhibit their mundane erudition - but this is all just the play of maya. The real essence of Bhagavad-gita cannot be transmitted through such persons
- My idea is that Vedic knowledge is complete because it is above all doubts and all mistakes. And Bhagavad-gita is the essence of all Vedic knowledge
- My life is dedicated for this purpose, and you have no cause for hesitation; but the process of putting questions is service and submission - that is the injunction in Bhagavad-gita
- My mission of one God, Sri Krishna; one scripture, Bhagavad-gita; and one mantra, Hare Krishna
- My order means Bhagavad-gita. We don't say anything extra. That is our principle. Caitanya Mahaprabhu says that "You become guru"
N
- Na jayate mriyate va kadacit: "For the soul there is never birth or death." This is the statement of Bhagavad-gita (BG 2.20)
- No one can avoid the Personality of Godhead in the statements of the Bhagavad-gita and other Vedic literatures such as the Mahabharata and the Puranas
- No one is interested in sacrificing for the sake of the Lord, as it is advised in the Bhagavad-gita
- Nobody can understand Bhagavad-gita unless one is very dear to Krsna and bhakta of Krsna. Nobody can understand. That is the first step. One must be very dear to Krsna and one must be a devotee of Krsna, then he can touch Bhagavad-gita
- Not only is He (God) seated in the heart of the human being, but He is also within the hearts of cats and dogs. Bhagavad-gita certifies this fact by the declaration of the Lord, isvarah sarva-bhutanam hrd-dese - BG 18.61
- Now modern science has just discovered a fraction of the truths that are available in the Bhagavad-gita
- Now that the sons of the Supreme are committing theft due to ignorance, it is the duty of one who is conversant with Bhagavad-gita to spread this supreme knowledge to all beings
- Nowadays it is fashionable to observe Bhagavata-saptaha and hear Srimad-Bhagavatam from persons who are anything but advanced devotees or self-realized souls
O
- O descendant of Bharata, he who dwells in the body is eternal and can never be slain. Therefore you need not grieve for any creature - Bhagavad-gita 2.30
- Of course if one thinks that Bhagavad-gita and the Hare Krsna mantra are part of the Hindu system and doesn't want to accept them because of this, he can nonetheless attend the Christian church and sing there
- Of the Vedic literatures, Srimad-Bhagavatam deals elaborately with these matters (of material and antimaterial). The Bhagavad-gita is the preliminary study of the Srimad-Bhagavatam
- One cannot do anything unless he is enlightened and empowered by the Lord. The Lord says in Bhagavad-gita mattah smrtir jnanam apohanam ca
- One cleanses himself daily by taking a bath in water, but one who takes his bath only once in the sacred Ganges water of the Bhagavad-gita cleanses away all the dirt of material life. BG 1972 Introduction
- One hundred years of Brahma are not the same as the one hundred years of a human being. From Bhagavad-gita we understand that Brahma's daytime of twelve hours equals 4,300,000 times 1,000 years
- One is not allowed to accept one portion of Bhagavad-gita and not another. BG 1972 Introduction
- One may cleanse himself daily by taking a bath in water, but if one takes a bath even once in the sacred Ganges water of Bhagavad-gita, for him the dirt of material life is altogether vanquished
- One may conclude that from the BG alone one can have the essence of the Vedas, for it is spoken by Krsna, the SPG, who descends upon this material world from the antimaterial world in order to give complete information of the superior form of energy
- One should give up the artificial process of philosophical speculation to arrive at the real goal of life, but one should submissively hear about the philosophy of KC, which is generally inculcated in Srimad Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam
- One should never mistakenly think that the spiritual whole can be divided into small parts by the small material energy. The Bhagavad-gita does not support this Mayavada theory
- One should take lessons from these Vedic literatures (Vedanta-sutra, the Upanisads, Bhagavad-gita, Mahabharata and the Ramayana) and learn how to practice nivrtti-marga. Then one's life will be perfect
- One thing is that you have to become intelligent. Just like Bhagavad-gita it is said, dharma-ksetre kuru-ksetre samaveta yuyutsavah (BG 1.1). Now why I shall accept interpretation on these plain words? That is my foolishness
- One who drinks the water of the Ganges certainly gets salvation, but what to speak of one who drinks the waters of Bhagavad-gita? BG 1972 Introduction
- One who engages in full devotional service, unfailing in all circumstances, at once transcends the modes of material nature and thus comes to the level of Brahman - Bhagavad-gita 14.26
- One who is fit for simply karma-yoga, that process is recommended for him. But if one ultimately wants the supreme benefit, then this is the injunction of Bhagavad-gita, that sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja
- One who produces illegitimate children, the world becomes full of varna-sankara, unwanted children, and thus the whole world become hell. This is stated in the Bhagavad-gita
- One who seeks shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Krsna is immediately protected by the Lord. As the Lord promises in Bhagavad-gita (BG 18.66), aham tvam sarva-papebhyo moksayisyami ma sucah: I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear
- One's occupational duty is prescribed in Bhagavad-gita. As already discussed in previous verses, the duties of a brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya and sudra are prescribed according to the particular modes of nature. BG 1972 purports
- One's search for the Absolute Truth by dint of speculative knowledge is complete when one comes to the point of understanding Krsna and surrenders unto Him. That is the real point of perfectional knowledge - Bhagavad-gita 7.19
- One's so-called husband, relative, son, father or whatever cannot actually be a well-wisher. The only actual well-wisher is Krsna Himself, as Krsna confirms in Bhagavad-gita (BG 5.29): suhrdam sarva-bhutanam
- Only by devotional service can He (the Supreme Lord) be known and not by any other means, as stated in Bhagavad-gita. BG 1972 purports
- Our consciousness, at the present moment, is materially contaminated. The Bhagavad-gita teaches that we have to purify this materially contaminated consciousness. BG 1972 Introduction
- Our movement is based on this Bhagavad-gita, the authorized book of knowledge, and approved by big acaryas in India - Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya, Lord Caitanya. So you are all responsible representative of papers. Try to understand this movement
- Our only business is as advised by Caitanya Maha..., yare dekha, tare kaha krsna-upadesa. This is our business. We are carrying this Bhagavad-gita as it is, and we are trying to educate people that "Here is real knowledge. Take it." This is our business
- Our own practical experience we have to accept the beginning of creation, and when we accept the beginning, we must accept a creator. Such a creator must possess an all-pervasive body, as pointed out in the Bhagavad-gita - 13.14
- Our propagation, this Krsna consciousness movement, is that we are trying to get our students well conversed in Bhagavad-gita & Srimad-Bhagavatam. So those who are our students, we have got our books now ready published so nicely. People are accepting it
- Our request is that such a great science, for the human society, for understanding the problems of life, how to solve it, how to achieve the greatest success in life... We have got this in the Bhagavad-gita. Why should we neglect it
- Our special stress on this point is that don't squeeze out some meaning of Bhagavad-gita for your own convenience. Present Bhagavad-gita as it is, and people will be benefited
- Out of many standard and authoritative revealed scriptures, the Bhagavad-gita is the best. BG 1972 purports
P
- Para-prakrti is the living entity, who is found in great numbers throughout the material world. He is indicated in Bhagavad-gita (BG 7.5) as jiva-bhutam
- People should accept one God, Krsna; one scripture, the Bhagavad-gita; and one activity, devotional service to the Lord. Thus people may live happily upon this earth and combine to produce sufficient food
- People should come to the understanding that, "These sinful activities I shall not do." But he is forced to do, impelled by the quality of passion and ignorance. That is answered in the Bhagavad-gita
- People should learn BG and accept the Supreme PG, Krsna, as the Lord of everything; they should practice satisfying the senses of the Supreme Lord instead of trying to satisfy their own senses. Training in KC will help one be promoted to Vaikuntha
- Prakrti, this material nature . . . in the Bhagavad-gita . . . it is working under the direction of the Supreme Lord. It is not blind. So there is some direction. It is very simple to understand
R
- Rahasyam, the transcendental secrecy of Bhagavad-gita, that secret will not be opened to a so-called scholar or academic educated. It must be taken from the (indistinct) authorized person, evam parampara praptam (BG 4.2), by disciplic succession
- Ramakrishna Mission, if I say it frankly, they distorted the Bhagavad-gita to the greatest extent. Yes. Because they presented somebody as Rama-Krsna, as God
- Ramananda Raya cited more evidence from BG: "One who is transcendentally situated at once realizes the Supreme Brahman. He never laments, nor desires, he is equally disposed. In that state he attains pure devotional service unto Me (Krsna)" - BG 18.54
- Real knowledge is expounded in Bhagavad-gita: "Just become Krsna conscious. Just worship Krsna and become a devotee of Krsna." That is real knowledge, and anyone who follows that system becomes perfect without a doubt
- Recently we have published abridged edition of Bhagavad-gita, 350,000 . . . three hundred and fifty hundred thousand
- Regarding further pictures for the Bhagavad Gita, if you want suggestions from me then I can give you hints with reference to important verses in the Gita; but whether you will be able to draw pictures simply by taking hints from me
- Regarding Printing of Bhagavad Gita complete and unabridged edition, it may be printed with our ISKCON PRESS and 5,000 copies may be sent, printed and folded to Bombay
- Regarding the Preface to Bhagavad-gita, I shall send that as soon as I have got some time to write one. In the meantime you can go ahead with the remainder of layout work
- Regarding the spiritual science of the Self, there are many literatures, such as the four Vedas, the Vedanta-sutra and the Puranas, the Srimad-Bhagavatam and the Gita. These are all representatives of Krsna. BG 1972 purports
- Regarding Vedanta and Bhagavad Gita. There is no doubt about it that Bhagavad Gita is real Vedanta philosophy
- Regarding your questions, how material things dissolve, I may give you one example: Material manifestation is temporary, as it is stated in Bhagavad Gita, that material manifestation at times comes into being and it at times vanquishes
- Religion based on philosophy and logic, that is religion. So that combination is Bhagavad-gita
- Religion without philosophical basis, without scientific basis, is sentiment. But religion based on philosophy and science, that is right. So Bhagavad-gita is that book. Any question, any inquiry, any doubt - all the answers are there, and very nicely
S
- Sacrifice does not mean murdering. The real work is yajna. Yajna means Visnu. In the Bhagavad-gita, yajna is prescribed
- Saner people should not be waylaid by such unscrupulous men. Bhagavad-gita is the summary of all Vedic knowledge because it is spoken by the same PG who imparted the Vedic knowledge into the heart of Brahma, the first created being in the universe
- Sankaracarya has accepted that Narayana and Krsna are transcendental, and in Bhagavad-gita also Lord Krsna has established, aham sarvasya prabhavo mattah sarvam pravartate: (BG 10.8) "I am the origin of everything; everything emanates from Me
- Sankaracarya has misrepresented all the mantras of the Vedanta-sutra to prove that there is no separate existence of the living entities & the Supreme Absolute Truth. This is similar to the politician’s attempt to prove nonviolence from the BG
- Sastra means that you cannot throw it away. Nobody has thrown Bhagavad-gita at any time, anywhere, because it is perfect. Nobody has thrown Bible - because they are perfect in knowledge
- Sastra says, Vedanta says, sastra-caksusah. Pasyanti jnana-caksusah (BG 15.9) in the Bhagavad-gita. Pasyanti jnana-caksusa: eyes should be enlightened by knowledge. That is real eyes. These blunt eyes is not eyes. Therefore guru is worshiped
- SB is written by Vyasadeva after writing four Vedas and the eighteen Puranas, the 108 Upanisads, then Vedanta-sutra and Mahabharata, in which Bhagavad-gita is set up. So after compiling all these Vedic literatures Vyasadeva was not satisfied
- Simply breathing deeply and doing some exercises is not yoga as far as Bhagavad-gita is concerned. A whole purification of consciousness is required
- Simply by aural reception of these two books (Bhagavad-gita and the Srimad-Bhagavatam) from the bona fide spiritual master, one becomes enlightened about devotional service, which is dormant within the heart
- Simply one has to practice the system. That system is hinted in the Bhagavad-gita very nicely, and one can adopt it and make his life perfect and make a permanent solution of life
- Since Bhagavad-gita is also Vedanta-sutra, by understanding Srimad-Bhagavatam, Vedanta-sutra or Bhagavad-gita one can obtain real knowledge
- Since the Lord is very kind to everyone, the impersonalists, who accept bhakti as the means of merging in the existence of the Lord in His impersonal brahmajyoti, are also awarded their desired destination. He has assured everyone in the Bhagavad-gita
- Since there is a great need of an edition of the Gita in English, as it is received by the parampara (disciplic succession) system, an attempt is made herewith to fulfill this great want. BG 1972 purports
- So Bhagavad-gita is the right book to understand about that brahma, or the Supreme Personality of Godhead, or the Absolute Truth, whatever you call. The Absolute Truth is known in three phases: Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan
- So don't be irresponsible to your life. Be responsible and be prepared for the next life and act accordingly, as the direction is there in the Bhagavad-gita, and prove that you are human being
- So far as Bhagavad-gita is concerned, there is no doubt about it that I am the only authority in your country in this matter
- So far Bhagavad-gita is concerned, if we become fully Krsna consciousness, then our ultimate solution of all problems will be solved. That is a fact
- So far the Bhagavad-gita is concerned every one, let him be a very great scholar in the mundane sense, must be in confirmed position along with the mode of understanding of Shri Arjuna. That is the crucial point of testing an Acarya false or real
- So if we do not try to understand the real purpose of Bhagavad-gita, and if we theorize, "Bhagavad-gita means nonviolence. Bhagavad-gita means to become patriot," these are materialism
- So if you make propaganda amongst the hippy group simply by our standard method; Samkirtan, reading some portion of Bhagavad Gita, and distributing prasadam, then I am sure the quarters in which you have now shifted will be very much prospective
- So in the Bhagavad-gita there is perfect instruction. And if we take it as it is and follow it, then we become perfect
- So we in our humble way are trying to spread this cult of Bhagavad-gita all over the world
- So-called scholars, philosophers and politicians exploit the importance of Bhagavad-gita by distorting its meaning for their own purposes. Therefore this verse (of SB 10.1.4) warns that krsna-katha should be recited by a person who is nivrtta-trsna
- So-called Yogis also could not establish the real cult of Bhagavad-gita
- Some may protest that Krsna incited Arjuna to fight, which is immoral, but the reality of the situation is clearly stated: Bhagavad-gita is the supreme instruction in morality. BG 1972 purports
- Some people say that for spiritual realization there is no need for a spiritual master, but so far as Vedic literature is concerned, and as far as Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam and the Upanisads are concerned, there is need of a spiritual master
- Sometimes materialists go to a temple to offer flowers and fruit to the Lord because they have learned from Bhagavad-gita that if a devotee offers some flowers and fruits, the Lord accepts them
- Sometimes the servant of God becomes the master of God. The real position of the living entity is to be the servant of God, but in the Bhagavad-gita we can see that the master, Krsna, became the servant of Arjuna
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu cites evidence from the Gita, Visnu Purana, etc., which are smrti-prasthana
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, in propagating the bhagavata-dharma or activities of the devotees, has recommended that people submissively hear the message of the Personality of Godhead. The essence of this message is Bhagavad-gita. BG 1972 purports
- Sri Jayadayal Dalmia has requested me to send you our edition of Bhagavad-gita As It Is because you are collecting all different editions of the Gita
- Srimad-Bhagavatam and, primarily, the Bhagavad-gita are both meant for delivering a person from the misconception of "I" and "mine," and Srila Vyasadeva transcribed them for the deliverance of the fallen souls
- Still there are so many stubborn commentators on Bhagavad-gita who consider the Supreme Absolute Truth and the living entities to be one and the same. BG 1972 purports
- Still, you come (to hear me). Why? Because you have got some little faith, "Oh, here is Bhagavad-gita. Let us hear it." So the faith is the beginning. The faithless cannot have any spiritual life
- Such persons (atheists) have no faith in the statement of the Bhagavad-gita that the Lord (Krsna) is unaffected by the reactions of work: na mam karmani limpanti - BG 4.14
- Such unscrupulous deviation from the real meaning of the Vedanta-sutra has created a class of men who by word jugglery try to derive various indirect meanings from the Vedic literatures, especially the Bhagavad-gita
- Sudama Vipra Maharaja is here and he has advised me that he will order 10,000 Bhagavad-gitas, abridged edition. You can give him concession rate as far as possible and he will pay cash down something
- Sukadeva Gosvami recommends the next step of assured policy, namely to fix one's mind in the service of the Personality of Godhead. Lord Sri Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, also recommends this direct process in the Bhagavad-gita
T
- That is good that you are taking discount from the unsatisfactory printing from Donnelly Co. Hardbound abridged Bhagawad-gita will be nice
- That is in the Bhagavad-gita. Acaryopasanam (BG 13.8). It is not self-aggrandizement. The acaryopasana goes to Krsna directly. Therefore it is needed. Not that it is a pompous thing
- That thing which is spread all over your body, that is consciousness. If you pinch any part of your body, you'll be conscious that there is some pain. Therefore the Bhagavad-gita is aiming at this consciousness
- That will be awarded to you by superior judgement, that "This man has done like this; he should get a body like this." That is not in your hand. That is not in your science. The real science is how to stop this business. That is being advised in BG
- The Absolute is mentioned here as the purusa, or person. The Absolute Personality of Godhead is mentioned in so many Vedic literatures, and in the Bhagavad-gita, the purusa is confirmed as the eternal and original person
- The age of Brahma is calculated in terms of divya years, which are distinct from the solar years of human beings. The divya years are calculated in Bhagavad-gita (BG 8.17). Brahma's one day is equal to one thousand times the aggregate of the four yugas
- The all, the essence of all sastra is Bhagavad-gita. All the, Garbha Upanisad. All the Upanisad, Vedic sastra, is spoken in a very short, cream, Bhagavad-gita, and the Supreme Personality speaking Himself. So we should take it very seriously
- The antimaterial particle is never created, and consequently it is never annihilated. This also is corroborated in the Bhagavad-gita
- The Battle of Kuruksetra is full of politics and diplomacy, but because the topics are related with Lord Krsna, the Bhagavad-gita is therefore adored all over the world
- The best system of religion is that which best trains us to surrender unto the Supreme Lord. This is the basic principle underlying Bhagavad-gita
- The BG and the great acaryas, or spiritual masters, have prescribed certain foods for human beings, and one who eats these foods eats in the mode of goodness. These foods include grains, fruits, vegetables, milk products, and sugar - and nothing more
- The Bhagavad-gita (BG 18.55) declares, bhaktya mam abhijanati yavan yas casmi tattvatah - One can understand the Supreme Personality as He is only by devotional service
- The Bhagavad-gita and all other revealed scriptures say that the Lord accompanies every living being in His localized aspect of Paramatma, the Supersoul
- The Bhagavad-gita and the Puranas are smrti, the Upanisads are sruti, and the Vedanta is nyaya. Of these three the sruti-prasthana, or the evidence from the sruti, is especially important
- The Bhagavad-gita is being spoken in the battlefield, full of violence, and he is trying to prove that the Bhagavad-gita is nonviolent. These are all artificial attempts. These explanations will never give you the real light from Bhagavad-gita
- The Bhagavad-gita is the preliminary conception of the Personality of Godhead Sri Krsna, and Srimad-Bhagavatam is the further explanation of the science of Godhead
- The Bhagavad-gita is the sound representation of the Lord, and there is no difference in identity. The conclusion is that the Lord can be seen and heard by persistent chanting of the transcendental sound
- The Bhagavad-gita primarily deals with the intelligence of man, leading one to the progressive path of civilization of the spirit soul. And Srimad-Bhagavatam is the complete human civilization dealing with the subject matter of the soul proper
- The Bhagavad-gita proclaims that the mahatmas, the great souls, are always chanting the glories of the Lord
- The Bhagavad-gita's process of purifying consciousness is the process of fixing one's mind on Krsna by smelling the flowers and tulasi leaves offered Him, engaging in activities for the Lord's interest, etc
- The Bhagavad-gita's process of purifying consciousness is the process of fixing one's mind on Krsna by talking of His transcendental activities, cleansing His temple, going to His temple
- The Bhagavad-gita's process of purifying consciousness is the process of fixing one's mind on Krsna by talking of His transcendental activities, cleansing His temple, going to His temple - CC Preface
- The Bhagavad-gita, mama yonir mahad brahma, indicate that everything in the material world is the manifestation of Brahman; and, although the effects are differently manifested, they are nondifferent from the cause. BG 1972 purports
- The Bhagavad-gita, the culture of India, they have forsaken. They are now taking culture from Russia
- The conclusion arrived at thereof is that devotional service of the Lord Sri Krsna, as it is confirmed by the Lord Himself in the last phases of the Bhagavad-gita, is the last word in relation to everyone's permanent duty in life
- The culmination of all yogas lies in bhakti-yoga, the rendering of devotional service unto Krsna. Actually, all of the yogas delineated in Bhagavad-gita end on this note, for Krsna is the ultimate destination of all the yoga systems
- The devotee becomes Krsna-ized by eating the remnants (of foods offered to Krsna). One who does not engage in such service cannot understand how this is so, although this is a process recommended in the Gita & in other Vedic literatures. BG 1972 purports
- The devotee follows the best yoga system of God-realization, which is enunciated in the Bhagavad-gita. His activities are not selfishly motivated, aimed at realizing his own cherished dreams, but are directed toward fulfilling the will of God
- The devotees are referred to as acyuta-gotra, or the dynasty of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The Lord is called Acyuta, as indicated in Bhagavad-gita (senayor ubhayor madhye ratham sthapaya me 'cyuta) - BG 1.21
- The duration of a day in the life of Brahma is 4,320,000,000 solar years. This is stated also in the Bhagavad-gita. So for this period Brahmaji rests in yoga-nidra within the body of the Garbhodakasayi Visnu, the generator of Brahma
- The eight external energies are listed in Bhagavad-gita (BG 7.4): "Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence and false ego - all together these eight comprise My (Krsna's) separated material energies"
- The ekapad-vibhuti manifestation of the material energy of the Lord is just like one of the many mistresses of the Lord, by whom the Lord is not so much attracted, as indicated in the language of the Gita
- The entire Bhagavad-gita is directed toward this conclusion (act in Krsna consciousness). Any other conclusions, against this consciousness and its attendant reactions, are vikarmas, or prohibitive actions. BG 1972 purports
- The fact is that if you have got different views about Krsna, then you cannot prove that from the Bhagavad-gita. If you take Bhagavad-gita, then you must present it as it is

- We are changing this body on account of presence of this life. In this way there are so many so-called scholars of Bhagavad-gita, they do not understand even the first lesson actually. Asmin dehe. Dehino 'smin yatha dehe
- We are doing. As far as possible, we have got center. The people are so overintelligent, don't take it. - Ah, what Hare Krsna? We have heard it. Ah, we have seen Bhagavad-gita
- We are eternal. We understand from Bhagavad-gita, na hanyate hanyamane sarire (BG 2.20). So if I am eternal, then why I am accepting death? This is real question. But foolishly we are thinking, "I am this body": therefore we remain as an animal
- We are not creating anything. It (BG & CC) is not a manufactured thing, concocted thing. It is standard, followed by great acaryas like Caitanya. So we have to accept. That is the way
- We are preaching on the basis of Bhagavad-gita, the most exalted vedic literature. The atheistic arya samaj does not believe in Bhagavad-gita. Therefore they are not strictly speaking followers of the Vedic varnasrama dharma
- We are presenting a scientific program of God conciousness on the basis of the highest authority, Bhagavad-gita
- We are repeatedly asking everyone to study Bhagavad-gita as it is. Don't become a learned scholar and interpret foolishly or differently from Bhagavad-gita. Everything is there
- We are so foolish that we do not take advantage of them (devotees of God and Bhagavad-gita). We do not take advantage of His devotee, who hankers to give this knowledge, sacrificing everything
- We can become happy when we are reinstated in our constitutional position, and Bhagavad-gita is meant to reinstate us in that position
- We cannot order the Supreme Personality of Godhead to do anything for us. We can simply offer Him our obeisances, as advised in Bhagavad-gita (man-mana bhava mad-bhakto mad-yaji mam namaskuru (BG 18.65)), and pray to Him for annihilation of dangers
- We cannot understand how the Supreme Personality of Godhead can be impersonal; the imposition theory of the impersonalist monist is false as far as the statements of the Gita are concerned. BG 1972 purports
- We have described several times that there are two kinds of krsna-katha, represented by Bhagavad-gita, spoken personally by Krsna about Himself, and Srimad-Bhagavatam, spoken by Sukadeva Gosvami about the glories of Krsna
- We have explained this Bhagavad-gita in the parampara system as we have heard from authoritative sources. So it may be a new contribution to your country, because in every edition they have concocted some ideas about Bhagavad-gita
- We have got a crucial test, that anyone who does not know about Krsna, he is put into four different types of categories, as it is stated in the Bhagavad-gita
- We have got abhadrani, so many inauspicious things, within our heart. This can be cleansed simply by hearing the message of Krsna from Srimad-Bhagavatam, from Bhagavad-gita, from the lips of devotees
- We have got Bhagavad-gita and all Vedic literatures. By learning, by practicing, we can make our life perfectly and then distribute the knowledge. This is India's business
- We have got our school, Dallas. We are teaching the small children to make the boys first-class men, as it is enunciated in the Bhagavad-gita, and woman to become very faithful and chaste. That's all
- We have heard many times of the yoga system. The yoga system is approved by Bhagavad-gita, but the yoga system in Bhagavad-gita is especially meant for purification
- We have just received advance copies of the Bhagavad-gita Chinese translation, the first 6 chapters. Might this be of some value to your preaching work in South Korea
- We have no difficulty. If you say, "How can I take instruction from Krsna? Krsna is not present." No, Krsna is present by His instruction. The Bhagavad-gita is there
- We have published many books, including Sri Caitanya-caritamrta in seventeen volumes, four hundred pages each, as well as Bhagavad-gita and The Nectar of Devotion
- We have taken Bhagavad-gita as the standard of all human activities. If the leaders of the human society take it as standard, then all the problems will be solved. That we can give practical suggestions for
- We have taken Bhagavad-gita as the standard of all human activities. If the leaders of the human society take it as standard, then all the problems will be solved. That we can give practical suggestions. Any plan of the atheists will never be successful
- We have to accept our leader according to the standard symptoms - or qualifications. The standard text book for civilized administration is Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam
- We have to accept perfect knowledge which comes down, as is stated in Bhagavad-gita, by the parampara disciplic succession. BG 1972 Introduction
- We have to associate with sadhu, means who have completely dedicated life for Krsna's service. That is the injunction in the Bhagavad-gita
- We have to change this body (tatha dehantara-praptih (BG 2.13)). If we do not care about Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam, we do not know what the next body will be
- We have to follow the footprints of great saints and sages, those who have achieved success by this indication of Bhagavad-gita. Don't follow your whims. Take the standard advice. Just try to become Krsna conscious
- We have to give up this body; this is as sure as anything. So the problem is, after giving up this body, what sort of body I am going to accept? That is assured in the Bhagavad-gita, that after giving up this body, there is no rebirth
- We have to learn from Bhagavan, the Supreme Person, full knowledge. This Bhagavad-gita is therefore full knowledge from the full Personality of Godhead. We cannot change even one word in this Bhagavad-gita. That is folly
- We have to learn the lessons of Gita from the authorized disciplic succession as it is advised there in the book. Unfortunately every one not in that line tries to explain Gita in his own way and this process is misguided the people
- We have to see through the sastra characteristic of a rascal, that he is not Krsna conscious. That's all. We may be fool, but we take lesson from Bhagavad-gita. That's all. And from the lesson we understand you are rascal number one. That's all
- We may think very..., that we are very safe and we are making good advancement in economic development, but there is no solution for these four problems, as enunciated by Bhagavad-gita, janma, mrtyu, jara, vyadhi
- We must enter into the spirit of Bhagavad-gita and not approach it simply from the viewpoint of erudition
- We often hear it said that God is infallible, and in BG Krsna states: When you see that there is nothing beyond these modes of nature in all activities and that the Supreme Lord is transcendental to all these modes, then you can know My spiritual nature
- We only need to stick to this Krsna consciousness movement on the basis of Bhagavad-gita. When we are a little further advanced, we can read Srimad-Bhagavatam
- We read Bhagavad-gita, the words of Krsna. Then how we can change the meaning of Gita when it is spoken by Lord? Does it mean that I am greater than the Lord? - Krsna left something to be told
- We see His energies working in this material world all the time. There is thunder and rain, and from rain comes the food we enjoy. This process is outlined in Bhagavad-gita - 3.14
- We should be careful not to miss the special opportunity of human life. Sri Krsna Himself comes to deliver Bhagavad-gita and to help us to become God conscious. Indeed, this very material creation is given to us to utilize for this cultivation
- We should become submissive and hear of the Supreme through the authoritative sources such as Bhagavad-gita or through the lips of a realized soul
- We should take advantage of these (scriptures), especially of Bhagavad-gita, which is the prime scripture for the modern world
- We should take Bhagavad-gita as it is directed by the Personality of Godhead Himself. BG 1972 Introduction
- We try to drag concocted meanings out of the simple passages of Bhagavad-gita to establish some man-made idea which is never supported by Bhagavad-gita. By such artificial dragging, one cannot ultimately establish his rubbish theory
- We want freedom, and we want to travel all over the world and all over the universe. Indeed, that is our right as spirit soul. The spirit soul in Bhagavad-gita is called sarva-gatah, which means that he has the ability to go wherever he likes
- We want to display doll exhibitions in every center of our society depicting some narration from Bhagwatam, Mahabharat, Caitanya Caritamrita, Bhagavad Gita like that
- We want to establish that one God, Krishna; one scripture, Bhagavad-gita; one mantra Hare Krishna; and one work, service to the Supreme Lord. And people are responding. So please try to cooperate with me
- What we are just introducing - Bhagavatam, Bhagavad-gita, Puranas, and live simple life, keeping cows, village life as it is exhibited by Krsna
- When a human being enters into the study of the Vedas to obtain vidya, knowledge, he advances to sankhya-yoga, in order to understand the supreme controller, who is indicated in Bhagavad-gita - BG 10.12
- When it is clear, there is no question of interpretation. Unfortunately, the Bhagavad-gita is being interpreted by unauthorized persons unnecessarily, and people are kept into darkness. We are trying to protest against this process
- When men have a taste for this literature (Bhgavad-Gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam), the other literatures, which are catering poison to society, will then automatically cease
- When the devotees aurally receive the activities of the SPG as enacted in Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam, they immediately achieve a transcendental vision in which they are no longer interested in materialistic activities. Thus they achieve freedom
- Whenever an acarya comes, following the superior orders of the Supreme Personality of Godhead or His representative, he establishes the principles of religion, as enunciated in Bhagavad-gita
- Whenever there is danger, the pure devotee thinks of the protection and shelter of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This is also advised in Bhagavad-gita (BG 9.33): anityam asukham lokam imam prapya bhajasva mam
- Why do you accept somebody as mahatma who does not speak about Krsna? Then you are misleading yourself. Everything, direction, is there (in Bhagavad-gita). Why you create your own mahatma? If you want to be cheated, who can check you? That is your fault
- Why the rascals comment in different way? They may write their rascal philosophy. Why they touch Bhagavad-gita and give different interpretation? They have no right. I have written a book; I have got my purpose. Why you should poke your nose
- Why there are varieties of life? One is tree, one is cat, one is dog, one is human being, one is blind, one is lame, one is educated, one is foolish - why? Why the difference, varieties? And that is answered in the Bhagavad-gita
- Why they cannot give us permission for printing BG? Make it clear whether we can print the older abridged edition, or if we can print the newer unabridged one. They must allow us to print here or immediately send 20,000 copies in India. We can sell all

- Yogis try to perfect their lives, and therefore the Bhagavad-gita enjoins that everyone should become a yogi
- You are also wise, and He (Krsna) is also wise, unlimitedly. Just like He has given us this book, Bhagavad-gita, five thousand years ago - the book of wisdom. It is the A-B-C-D of spiritual knowledge
- You are asking me to fight, for my victory, for my happiness, but I see it will be just the opposite. Pasyami viparitani. This is his problem. And to solve this problem, Arjuna became the disciple of Krsna, and Krsna advised him this Bhagavad-gita
- You are recognized all over the world as a very pious man, and you are supposed to be very devotee of BG. You fought for independence. Now you have got your independence. So I request you to take the teachings of BG to preach all over the world
- You can see very beautiful Deity, you can hear very beautiful sound, you can talk on Krsna philosophically from Bhagavata and Bhagavad-gita. So everything in Krsna consciousness. There is no stoppage
- You will find in the Bhagavad-gita. Isvara, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is sitting in everyone's heart. Not only human being, even animals, everyone. So that feature is called Paramatma
- Your fear that the entire society will be in danger by Raymond's editing of the Gita is not very suitable remark
- Your prayer, nirakara, or gagana-sadrsa, that is one feature of Krsna. Krsna is person. The nirakara, Brahman feature, is His effulgence of the body. That is expressed in the Bhagavad-gita, brahmanah aham pratistha
- Your report on the library party is very encouraging, especially regarding the use of Bhagavad-gita as a text for College courses
